This is a Dark Fantasy Academia Romance with so many plot twists that left me reeling.
This story follows Willow a young witch who has spent her whole life hiding from the Covenant and being raised to be a weapon for her fathers revenge.
After losing her mother she has to attend Hollow Grove University where we meet our morally grey anti-hero MMC Alaric Thorne headmaster of Hollow Grove.
The tension and chemistry between Willow and Thorne made this story such a page turner and the plot twists kept me on my toes.

The world building was complex and the author did this beautifully. With secrets around every corner. The magical system was intricate and not like anything I’ve read before which kept me captivated.

The beginning of the story was a bit slow getting started but gripped me in deep at about the 1/2 way point. The last chapter and last sentence made me need the next book ASAP! The only other thing is that it wasn’t clear how old Willow was I thought she was 16 and was very bothered by that but the author confirmed Willow is 20.

Overall this is a great read and was different from what I’m used to reading. Worth the read!!!

I received this book as an ARC for my review.

Thank you Harper for allowing me to read your story. Loved it!

“Damaged people recognize other damaged people.  It’s like a club you don’t want a membership to.”

This story is about a young woman named Beyah who has not had the easiest life.  Struggling through poverty and neglect due to her mother having a bad drug addiction.

After her mother passed away from an overdose she finds herself needing a place to live until she goes off to college in the fall.

Beyah calls her father to see if she can stay the summer with him but omitting to tell him about her mother.  Beyah hasn’t visited her father in a few years and barely talked to him he had no idea about her living situation.

Upon arriving in Texas she learns she has a Stepmother Alana and a stepsister Sara.

While staying with her father Beyah meets her neighbor Samson, the rich neighbor that rents out his fathers properties during the summer.

(Who ends up having more dark secrets than Beyah). Both of these characters are quite broken and start healing together.  Beyah is a strong character who is very loyal and easy to love.

This story is about found family and acceptance.  I really loved this story but I do feel the ending was rushed.  With the plot twist, I feel like it was resolved too easily there needed to just be more.   However, I would still highly recommend this book.
