I’m a total sucker for Hades and Persephone retellings—I eat them up—and Spring’s Descent was everything I hoped for. From start to finish, I was hooked. I ended up switching between reading and listening to the audiobook, and honestly, the audio was phenomenal. It pulled me even deeper into the story and made the whole experience so immersive.
What made this book even more special for me was meeting the author herself. I got to chat with C.L. Briar at Sinners & Stardust, before I’d even picked up any of her books. We talked for about 20 minutes—not just about Spring’s Descent (though she did let me listen to a clip of the audiobook, which immediately had me running to grab it!)—but about what I was wearing to the ball, what she planned to wear, and all sorts of things outside of books. She was so kind, genuine, and down-to-earth that I walked away not only excited to read Spring’s Descent but determined to dive into her entire backlist.
If you love dark, romantic, beautifully written retellings, this one is an absolute must. πΉπ₯
