Merritt and her Childhood Crush

Merritt and her Childhood Crush (Oakley Island Romcom #2)

By: Jenny Proctor and Emma St. Clair
Steam Level: πŸ”₯(kissing only)
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received this story as an ARC for my honest review. Thank you @jennyproctorbooks for the opportunity.

She said she would never go back to Oakley Island…that is until Merritt Markham loses out on a promotion to her cheating ex-boyfriend. She decides to pack up her life and move back from New York to oversee the renovations of her late grandmother’s home that was left to her and her two other sisters Eloise and Sadie. She didn’t expect Hunter Williams the boy she loved as a young girl to be the contractor working on the house. Now she is having to face her past the pain from losing the first and only person she has ever loved.

I really loved this story; I enjoyed the dynamic between Merritt and Hunter they have a fun teasing banter that will make you smile. I would have enjoyed a little more steam, but I do enjoy that this book focuses more on the plot. They also touch on some tough subjects such as teen pregnancy, marrying too young and for the child, divorce, and co-parenting after divorce.

I loved that Hunter fostered wild animals and I really loved Banjo the Racoon he was a cute addition and had some cute parts. The only thing I would add is a little more steam but other than that I loved every bit of this book and cannot wait to read Sadie’s story.
